what you will learn
-
deep dive into harmony
This course is all about taking your knowledge of chords and how to use them to a higher level. Having established a foundation of basic blues playing we can now explore the harmonic possibilities that the blues incorporates so well, from BB King to Duke Ellington.
-
jazz-influenced techniques
All of the chord voicings for the guitar that are found in jazz will be represented in this course. The great jazz guitarist Jim Hall once said βIf you paired the whole guitar tree down it would come down to Freddy Greenβ. Freddy was the guitarist for Count Basieβs band and a rhythm machine! Learning chords is necessary for playing any music and will open up a whole new world of Blues playing.
-
comprehensive learning journey
With the knowledge presented in this course youβll be able to play in any blues setting as well as be on your way to understanding and playing jazz. The same techniques are present in both musical forms. And I believe having a grounding in that earthy, funky, country blues at the very beginning gives you a stronger voice on the guitar.
